About Kat

Changing my diet to be more health conscious was one of the first tools I utilized in my alcohol recovery journey to help get my physical health back on track. How hard is it to work on your mental health when your physical health is also suffering?

At 38 years old, I chose to leave my old life behind and return to school to receive my diploma in Holistic Nutrition. I dedicated four years to furthering my education on all things nutrition. Heading into my "Middle Adulthood" years, I really aim to focus my time and continuing education within the realm of alcohol recovery and peri + menopause support for women through lifestyle and nutritional guidance.

I am dedicated to helping women enhance their overall health and achieve greater alignment in their lives. I hope to empower women to develop a more positive relationship with their bodies and to food, particularly during our transition into menopause or through active drinking or recovery from alcohol. My approach is focused on releasing what isn't working and helping women vivify their lives through sustainable healthy habits and nutrition. You don't have to do this alone!

Holistic Nutrition faqs

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

What is 'Holistic Nutrition'? How is it different from just 'Nutrition'?

Holistic Nutrition takes into account the person as a whole - from diet + lifestyle, to environmental and socioeconomic influences. As a Holistic Nutritionist, I not only look at your diet, but also how much movement you are getting, how much sleep, your stress levels, your socioeconomic status, even what kind of kitchen instruments you have, etc. It helps to get a clearer picture of the individual I am working with.

Why would I go see a Holistic Nutritionist?

In looking to optimal health, we don’t generally single out one aspect, it’s many that keeps our body and mind in harmony as it looks and feels to us. If ever you are interested in looking at aspects of your life other than diet, then holistic nutrition can help with that.

Do you specialize in one area at Vivify Nutrition?

Although I love working with women at every stage in their lives, I have a particular interest and focus on nutrition for Alcohol Recovery, given my history. I also work closely to support women entering perimenopause and menopause.

What do you mean by ‘Alcohol Recovery’?

Being 6 + years into my alcohol recovery, I have found a distinct lack of proper information for those women looking for nutritional advice and support after giving up an alcohol dependance. If you’ve been drinking for a long time, alcohol has most likely depleted many nutrients from your body, and also wreaked havoc on your digestive system, among many other things. We work

together to introduce back into the diet lots of wholesome, nutrient dense foods, and look at areas where we can improve in our day to day lives.

What do I need to do to prepare for my session?

An intake form is required. Also if you have had or are able to get any blood work done (with 6 month time frame), that would be a beneficial asset to bring with you. And we can also work together without one. If working in recovery, thinking about personal goals you’d like to achieve in nutrition and in life.

If I identify as a male, can I still book?

Although Vivify Nutrition specializes in women’s health, men and even children can absolutely book with Vivify.

What does a session look like?

An Intake Form is required to fill out before our meeting. You will be prompted at time of booking to fill it out. During our first session, we will review the form together and work to build a sustainable diet + lifestyle plan that works for each individual. Diet is not a ‘one size fits all’ vibe. Everyone has different needs and comes from a different place so the plans are tailored to each individual. After our first meeting, within 24 hours you will have a typed up Nutrition Plan to follow.

What are your office hours?

Tuesday mornings are IN PERSON at Intuitive Movement in Sooke. Sessions are open to

book from 9am to 12pm. Tuesday afternoons are ONLINE or AT HOME and are open to book from 1pm - 4pm.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are ONLINE or AT HOME. Sessions are open to book from 9am to 4pm.

Are you covered by insurance?

It varies depending upon your health insurance provider. If you have a health spending account then it most likely would be, but generally speaking, no Nutritionists are not covered.
